Study finds that Ambrotose Complex can improve memory
COPPELL, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2014--
Mannatech,
Incorporated (NASDAQ: MTEX),
the founder of the M5MSM (Mission
5 MillionSM) social entrepreneurial movement, the pioneer
of glycobiology and the leading innovator of naturally-sourced
supplements based on Real
Food Technology® solutions, announced today the
publication of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human
clinical trial showing that intake of a single serving of Ambrotose®
complex powder can improve memory.*1
In this study, 73 healthy, mentally fatigued middle-aged adults taking Ambrotose
complex experienced statistically significant improvements in their
performance on a battery of tests assessing cognitive function, without
affecting blood glucose levels.* The study was led by Dr. Talitha Best,
a post-doctoral research fellow at the Nutritional Physiology Research
Centre, Sansom Institute for Health Research, University of South
Australia (UniSA).**
“While the majority of older Americans take dietary supplements to
support overall wellness and healthy aging, they are aware of
age-related memory problems but haven’t found a supplement that they
believe will help,” commented Dr. Robert Sinnott, Mannatech’s CEO and
Chief Science Officer. “This study makes it clear that consumers have a
product, now backed by three double-blind, placebo-controlled trials,
that can provide significant cognitive benefits, both after a single
serving1 and long-term intake.” 2, 3
While neuropsychological testing indicates that declines in some aspects
of memory function can be detectable as early as one’s 20s and 30s, most
people start noticing memory issues about age 50 and thereafter. Given
the rapidly-growing number of adults aged 65 and older in the developed
world—seniors comprise over 13% of the population in the U.S., Canada
and Australia, and 25% of the population in Japan—the need for
validated, safe dietary supplements to support healthy cognitive
function, a cornerstone of the quality of life, is exploding.
“A healthy lifestyle —one that includes exercise, a healthy diet, no
more than moderate alcohol intake, staying mentally active, managing
stress, getting adequate sleep, not smoking and staying socially
active—can help optimize cognitive function throughout life,” continued
Dr. Sinnott. “Our patented, clinically validated Ambrotose products,
which have been safely consumed for almost 20 years, are a great choice
for people who want to get the most out of their golden years.”
