Mannatech to Officially Launch Mission 5 Million Movement in Branson, Mo.

Company Adopts Social Entrepreneurship to Help Fight Global Malnutrition

COPPELL, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2013-- Mannatech®, Incorporated (NASDAQ: MTEX) the pioneer of nutritional glycobiology and leading innovator of naturally-sourced supplements based on Real Food Technology® solutions, is announcing the official launch of its Mission 5 MillionSM movement at the Branson2013 national conference this weekend in Branson, Missouri. The Mission 5 Million movement, or M5MSM, represents the company’s commitment to linking five million consumers with five million children in need to help fight global malnutrition.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately five million children are affected each year from issues related to undernourishment. Mission 5 Million marks a significant shift in Mannatech’s core business model, and its full commitment to social entrepreneurship specifically to help address the problem of undernourishment. Leveraging the same technology used in creating their premium supplements based on Real Food Technology solutions, Mannatech created PhytoBlend™ powder, a potent product specifically designed to bolster the nutritional value of the food provided to children by relief organizations worldwide. Every time a Mannatech product is purchased on automatic order, a donation is made to MannaRelief, a non-profit organization, who distributes PhytoBlend powder to orphanages and relief organizations all over the world. This simple approach allows anyone to help nourish the world by nourishing themselves with Mannatech products.

In addition, Mannatech created the world’s first revenue-sharing rewards program for social entrepreneurship, allowing participants to earn income for championing the M5M movement by connecting consumers to Mannatech products. Combined with the company’s global infrastructure and patented product technologies, this revenue-sharing approach allows the company to actively incentivize those who champion the cause, aiming to shorten the timeline of reaching five million children in need.

The Branson2013 event, themed “Hope for the Future,” will feature world-renowned and recently retired pediatric neurosurgeon, as well as humanitarian and best-selling author, Dr. Ben Carson. Other presentations focusing on different aspects of the Mission 5 Million movement will be shared throughout the weekend. In addition, the company will launch several new web-based tools and share some upcoming product announcements that will further ignite the M5M movement.

“By combining the revolutionary technology that our products are based on with the passion and vision to make an impact in the fight against global malnutrition, we are marking the beginning of a new era of hope and health that’s going to change the world,” said Dr. Robert Sinnott, CEO and Chief Science Officer. “I’m simply proud to be a part of this company, and a part of this movement.”

The event will be hosted by local Mannatech Independent Associates and attended by several corporate executives. The event will conclude with an official M5M flag-planting ceremony to symbolically launch the M5M era.
