Team Mannatech Congratulates Athletes
Hayley Wickenheiser and Kimberly Derrick both earn medals
(COPPELL, Texas) March 9, 2010 – Mannatech, Incorporated (NASDAQ: MTEX - News), would like to congratulate Hayley Wickenheiser, who won a gold medal in women’s hockey and Kimberly Derrick, who won a bronze medal in women’s short track during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
Hayley Wickenheiser, considered one of the best women’s hockey players ever, is now a four-time Olympic medalist after leading her Team Canada as captain against the United States in the Gold Medal Match, 2–0. Wickenheiser is highly regarded among all Olympians as she represented the entire athletic body and took the Olympic oath during the opening ceremonies.
This was one of the most anticipated rematches of the Winter Games, as the two teams have won every women’s hockey title since the world championships in 1990 and the Olympics in 1998 when women began competing.
Representing the United States and competing in her second Olympics, Kimberly Derrick won a bronze medal in the 3000-meter short track relay. She also competed in the 1000-meter and 1500-meter races. Derrick finished the 2008-09 season as the top-ranked American woman and fifth in the world.
“We are so proud of Hayley and Kimberly’s medal-winning achievements at the 2010 Olympic Games,” said Team Mannatech Coach and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Butch Johnson. “They reflect the best their countries have to offer – confidence to compete at the highest level, excellence and determination to make an entire nation proud.”
